Outdoor Activities

Chemistry

A favorite of inquisitive kids everywhere, making slime or Oobleck is a great way to engage your young learner with basic chemistry concepts. Your scientists will be getting their hands dirty, so please keep that in mind when selecting the space we will be using for the experiment. Smocks or aprons for younger scientists are also a good idea for this one. Science is messy, after all! Both the slime and Oobleck projects involve using everyday household materials to create the finished product. I will supply the materials needed and will require access to water supply on site.

Physics & Astronomy

Space: the final frontier! With this package, your scientists will get the chance to observe through my trusty telescope and learn about getting to space! We will spend time observing the sun using a special filter. I'll teach your scientists all about the sun, how different telescopes work, and safety when solar observing. Then we will spend some time making our own mini-rockets. I will bring all the materials for this project but I will need access to a water supply. This project can get a little messy and might work best outdoors. Finally, I will do a rocket demonstration using a special fuel and a little spark to send our rocket sky high! For this demo, I'll need you to provide an empty, rinsed, and dried 2 liter bottle. The rocket tends to fly pretty high at a fast speed, so this is only available in large, outdoor spaces (we don't want to accidentally launch our rocket into the neighbor's yard).

Indoor Activities

Brain Science

For a low-mess, indoor option, your scientists can learn all about the human brain and how it works! I will bring a variety of puzzles, brain games, and activities that your scientists can work on in groups or individually. All of the activities will help your scientist learn about the scientific method and encourage creative, outside-of-the-box thinking.

Light & Color

Lasers and rainbows and science...oh my! This low-mess, indoor package includes learning about how astronomers can study stars and planets from light years away, creating an observation tool that everyone can take home, and playing with lasers! I will bring all of the supplies necessary for our light & color fun, but will need access to water supply.

Rates & Booking

For each of the packages above, my base rate is $150 per hour plus a $25 travel fee. This helps cover supplies, time, and my assistant. I always bring an assistant to help with transporting materials, ensuring everyone is able to enjoy the activities, and making certain that we keep science safe and fun for everyone.

To book, please email me at buddy.muhler@gmail.com. I will reserve your date with a 50% down payment with the other 50% due the day of the event.
